Whether you’re a local or a visitor, join us to discover the beauty of Angelina County and win exciting prizes!

What Is the Pineywoods Possum Walk?
Lace up your hiking boots and embark on a scavenger hunt through some of East Texas’ most scenic spots. We’ve hidden possums—each with a unique QR code—along trails in Cassels-Boykin Park and the Angelina National Forest, including Boykin Springs Recreation Area, Old Aldridge Sawmill Trail, and Bouton Lake Recreation Area. Find a possum, scan the code, and register for a chance to win a prize package filled with local treasures and outdoor gear!
New Possums Weekly: Each week, we’ll place fresh possums on a designated trail and announce the location here on our website. Check back often to plan your next hike!
Prize Drawing: Every possum you register enters you into our grand prize drawing, awarded on July 1, 2025.

Explore Zavalla’s Trails
The Pineywoods Possum Walk is your ticket to discovering Zavalla’s natural wonders and rich history:
Cassels-Boykin Park: Nestled on Lake Sam Rayburn, perfect for a family hike or a peaceful stroll.
Boykin Springs Recreation Area: Wander through pine forests and marvel at cascading springs.

How to Participate
1. Start Hiking: Head to one of the featured trails between May 24 and July 1, 2025.
2. Hunt for Possums: Look for our cleverly hidden possums along the paths.
3. Scan & Register: Use your smartphone to scan the QR code on each possum you find and register your discovery.
4. Win Prizes: Each registration enters you into the prize package drawing!
